iStrategy 2010 – Berlin
Traveling to Berlin today to see my friend Lars Hilse speak at iStrategy 2010, the yearly gathering for Business, Marketing, Business Development, IT and Creative professionals involved in all aspects of online media and strategic management positions.
With all the big names attending this event, I am very keen to learn what is new in internet land and what the latest trends are. Gotta run!
Rotterdam Film Festival 2010
I went to the Rotterdam Filmfestival yesterday, oh boy oh boy oh boy! To me, these movies that are playing there are always a bit of a hit & miss. Yesterday, unfortunately, was a bit of a miss.
There was also a small opening movie prior to the main feature. It was something experimental.. And so experimental that I was thinking: either you have such a high intellect that you create associations that don’t exist and think you know what the director means, or…. you have an IQ < 80 and are simply amazed by all the strange pictures you see. I belong to neither.
The film festival itself however seems to be quite a success and there is a nice atmosphere. Have a look, there are plenty of movies that are very good I heard!
Twitter works!
I started with Twitter about a 1.5 years ago, and tried different things. But somehow I didn’t get it to work for me and I couldnt see the added value of it either. After a quick introductory course by a friend of mine I am starting to establish interesting contacts on Twitter.
2 weeks ago I had a bad customer experience with the Dutch bank SNS. So I tweeted about it. Guess what? Within 30 minutes of my tweet I got an email from the Senior PR guy at SNS. After a good emailing about, they confirmed they are going to review their process. A couple of days later I received a follow-up email that they scheduled it for their next meeting.

New focus, new LinkedIn profile
Following the event of getting my own NLP session with Ravisie/ Ben Licher, I have gotten new insights. Answers to questions that have been costing me a lot of energy in my life were discovered. That is leading to me changing my focus. The first step was to “restart” my own weblog. Now I am writing more personal blogs and keep my focus on a couple of specific topics, shying away from only writing about marketing.
Along with this new focus I realised that my profile on LinkedIn doesn’t reflect the “current” me. Now it does, thanks Ben for the insights you have given me! Next step: rewrite my CV. I wouldn’t want my future employer be unable to see how wonderful I am!
Next to my LinkedIn Profile, I have also updated my own About page already.
Apple iPad!
Finally.. The Apple iPad! I am a Mac-head since a long time already.. I am not buying this device just yet. My money is on my MacBook Pro and my iPhone. However, you have to hand it to Steve Jobs & Apple.. The excitement and rumor-mill around this device has been superb! See for yourself!
On another note, I dare to speculate that this might be Steve Jobs’ last big product. He’s around 55 and build the company from scratch, got fired, and saved the company to the multi-billion dollar company it is now. The hype that was created was enormous. From my point-of-view much more then normal. Might this be Steve’s big bang, hand over the scepter to Tim Cook and enjoy an early retirement?
